FIRST there was WHAM! Radio broadcasting to Blaenavon.
Now CROWfm is about to go on air, delivering music, news and chat to everyone in the south of the borough.
CROWfm goes live on Saturday, for a 28-day trial ending on Christmas Eve.
Once again, the Free Press will be working with the CROWfm team to bring a full daily diet of news and comment.
We'll also be printing the schedule each week so you won't miss your favourite programmes on 107.5 FM.
CROWfm has been put together by many of the same people behind the successful WHAM! Radio trial in May this year.
In charge are operations manager Darren Powis, Sumaya Edmunds, Patrick Graham, Alan Fossey and a team of volunteer djs and backroom staff.
They will be transmitting from a former hairdressers at Wye Court, Thornhill.
The station should be available to up to 60,000 people, from New Inn, all of Cwmbran, to the northern part of Newport, thanks to a transmitter at Wye Court.
Confirmed guests for the launch are The Mayor of Torfaen Cllr Yvonne Warren, and all girl pop group, Dragonheart.
CROWfm will broadcast until Christmas Eve, but it will not be the end of community radio in the eastern valley.
Plans are afoot for a permanent radio station, covering the whole of Torfaen, to be on air by autumn 2005.
For the latest on the project, see the CROWfm page at www.tormedia.info
