'Tis the season of good will

PONTYPOOL's Cavalcade was a runaway success with hundreds of people coming out to mark the start of festivities in the town.

Santa took up residence in his grotto at the market and children were entertained throughout the day with face painting, street performers and the Pontypool Brass Band.

Red Dragon radio's Clare Lloyd revealed the town's true Christmas sparkle when she switched on the Christmas tree lights at the top of Crane Street.

The procession was a great success with Santa accompanied by a host of musical talent.

BLAENAVON was alive with activity on Monday evening as the town's new lights worth £13,000 brought in the Christmas spirit.

Children from St Peter's and Hillside Schools led the candle lit procession through the town and sang carols.

The procession then made their way to the Workmens Hall where they presented scrolls of honour to residents who have made outstanding contributions to the community.
