Crickhowell make it ten

CRICKHOWELL recorded their tenth straight victory in Gwent Central League Division One as they defeated Cwmffrwdoer 3-1 on Saturday.

Matthew Stevens was twice on target for the league leaders while Craig Thomas converted a penalty. Ross Peake scored for the visitors but Robbie Peake was sent off for two bookable offences.

Crickhowell's man of the match was Craig Thomas, Owain York for Cwmffrwdoer.

Govilon's young team continue to impress with a 6-0 hammering of third-placed Gilwern & District. Their manager Butch Morgan was delighted with the performance that saw goals from Dean Morgan (2), Luke Ewers (2), Bas Turley and Luke Jones.

Mardy and Tranch swap places after their results. Mardy were held to a 3-3 draw by Panteg while Tranch lost 3-0 at home to Usk Town.

Goal scorers for Mardy were Steven Smith, Robert Howells and Michael Sage while Panteg netted through David Colhoun, David Gabbidon and Gary Stirling. Mardy's MoM: Michael Sage, Panteg's MoM: David Gabbidon.

Usk Town's goals against Tranch were scored by Danial Bevan (2) and Steve Wade. Usk's MoM: Mark Shipman, Tranch's MoM: Sean Jolliffe.

Llanarth travelled to Clydach Wasps and won an eight-goal thriller 5-3. Peter Maddocks put them ahead from the penalty spot and the lead was doubled after a 30-yard screamer from Neville Harris. Grant Gwilliam pulled a goal back for the Wasps before the break.

Llanarth went 3-1 up early in the second half when Paul Rennie hit the target and Jonathan Roberts scored Llanarth's fourth in the 67th minute. Simon Tippings reduced the deficit for Wasps but Maddocks struck his second penalty to make it 5-2. Gwilliam scored a second for the Wasps to make the final score 5-3.

Lower New Inn's dismal run continued as they lost 6-0 at home to Blaenavon Blues. Winger James Parfitt opened the scoring and Allun Scammell made it 2-0 just before half-time.

Ryan Keen (2), Scammell and man of the match Parfitt scored second-half goals to complete the rout.

In Division 2, Prescoed stay top despite a shock 4-1 defeat to Pandy who are improving with every game.

Steve Wedlock scored twice while Jason Osbourne and Paul Jones were also on target. Prescoed's consolation came from John Parry.

Pandy's MoM: Steve Wedlock, Prescoed's MoM: Steve Williams. Race stay in second after an exciting 5-3 victory over Abergavenny Thursdays. Michael George scored a hat-trick and Chris Bartlett and Paul Hayward also netted.

For Thursdays, Ross Fury, Kieron James and Gary Butler were on target. Race's MoM: Michael George, Thursdays' MoM: Anthony Moriarty.

Crickhowell B moved up to third following an 8-0 demolition of Sebastopol. Allan Jones helped himself to a hat-trick while Jonny Webb and Owen Jones scored two apiece and Mark Eacott got the other.

Fairfield came away from Gilwern B with maximum points after a 2-1 win. Nathan Nash and Glenn Rees (penalty) were on target for them while Sion Thomas scored from the spot for Gilwern.

New Inn produced a powerful first half performance as they beat Llanarth B 5-1. The visitors raced into a 4-0 lead at half-time but Llanarth matched them in a close second half. Allan Thomas (2), Darren Altoft (2) and Gareth Morter were New Inn's scorers. New Inn MoM: Martin Sutton, Llanarth B MoM: Robert Westall.

Michael Morrison scored the winner for PILCS from the penalty spot in a 2-1 win over Mardy B. Alex Lewis had scored the first, only for Christian Fletcher to equalise.

Usk Town B beat Pontypool B 7-2 with George Ashworth scoring a hat-trick. Ian Burton, Robert Morris, Daniel Price and Steve Jones also scored for the home team. In reply, Sean Kearns and Darren Nash netted for Pontypool B. Usk B's MoM: Ian Burton, Pontypool B's MoM: Shaun James.
