GOYTRE'S relegation worries worsened on Saturday following a 3-1 defeat at AFC Porth.
The result leaves the Gwent team perilously close to the drop zone although teams below them have played more games.
Despite starting the game well Goytre found themselves behind on 20 minutes.
Kevin Bonds converted from the penalty spot after Kevin Man was adjudged to have bought down a Porth player - a decision hotly disputed by Goytre.
Things then went from bad to worse as Richie Taylor put through his own net five minutes later and Goytre conceded another penalty on the stroke of half time.
Fortunately goalkeeper Gareth Williams saved well from Kevin Bonds second spot kick to deny the player a first half brace and keep his team in the game.
Half time saw Goytre manager Steve Morgan - unhappy with the referee's first half performance - exchange some angry words with the official.
Perhaps he said one or two things to his players too because Goytre started the second period well, dominating midfield with Porth seemingly content to sit on their two-goal advantage.
But just as the visitors looked to get a foothold in the match Porth broke quickly and Justin Clarkson made it 3-0 to the home side with a goal scored very much against the run of play.
This left Goytre with a mountain to climb and though Steve Collet pulled one back for the visitors, volleying home Andy Walsh's cross, it proved to be too little, too late.
