Don't miss chance to get Helping Hand

LOCALS in Pontypool wanting a Helping Hand in the community still have time to get their request in to the Free Press.

Family-owned, high street retailer Wilkinson opens its new value-for-money store this year and in association with supplier sponsor PBI, manufacturers of Phostrogen, has joined forces with the Free Press to launch a new Helping Hand initiative.

Already local community groups and projects have been in touch as part of the initiative - with a wide variety of requests for help.

But there is still time for others to send in details before the deadline after which a number of projects will be selected for Wilkinson to support during the year with reports on their successes in the Free Press.

"We would love to support everyone who has been in touch and we will certainly try and lend a Helping Hand to as many as we possibly can whether it be by supporting charity events, donating materials or helping out with a product donation," said the new store's Liz Bird.

Supported by PBI, Wilkinson is offering £2,000 worth of products to local community groups and charities - whether it's help with paint for a community makeover or a Helping Hand with a garden project.

"We would love to hear from anyone in Pontypool who would like us to lend a Helping Hand. It might be a school that would like to work with the retail sector to help with curriculum studies in numeracy, for example." added Liz.

"We would be delighted to lend a Helping Hand to youngsters with their studies. As a high street retailer with more than 74 years' experience we can offer loads of help and information about marketing, selling and the business world."

If you feel you could use a Helping Hand with your project then please write to the Free Press with full details of your scheme and help required to.

Send your details into Helping Hand competition, Pontypool Free Press, Portland Buildings, Commercial Street, Pontypool NP4 6JS. The closing date is Wednesday December 29.

Projects will then be selected for support this year and we will report back on your success in the Free Press.
