Blues win but lose manager

BLAENAVON Blues did not let the shock resignation of manager Mike Hall stop them from recording a 2-0 win over Spencer Youth in Gwent County Division One.

Mike's three years in charge has seen the team rise from the third division to currently third in division one. He also took them to the 2003 County Cup Final.

Mike will remain as club chairman with Robert Browning taking over as team manager.

Two goals either side of half-time accounted for Spencer Youth. Midfielder Gareth Priest opened the scoring following good work by Neil Cox and Darran Harris.

Within five minutes of the second half, Cox made it 2-0. Spencer Youth then had their best spell of the game and goalkeeper Marcus Lear was called into action.

The last 15 minutes saw the Blues back in control with chances for Steve White, Mike Waite, Matthew Shearman and Harris but the score remained 2-0 at the end.
