Panteg pay price for dull play

Undy 0 Panteg 1

Panteg ended a run of five straight wins with a lacklustre performance at Undy.

In a game of few chances, the home side struck the killer blow with 20 minutes remaining; claiming an unlikely win in a match that had looked destined to finish 0-0.

Panteg started well, dominating the opening exchanges but lost their way after the first 15 minutes.

Undy, too, seemed to have little to offer until a poorly-cleared corner fell to an Undy player who made no mistake - finding the corner of the net from the edge of the area.

Although Panteg rallied in the closing stages - Dan Parfitt hitting the bar - they could not prevent the end of their five-game winning streak.

Panteg manager Paul Thomas admitted he was disappointed.

"It was a bad day at the office, apart from our goalkeeper Mark Eaves, I can't think of anyone who played well, he said

"But the lads have been magnificent over the last five games so I suppose we were due a bad one sooner or later.

"We've got Clydach Wasps here next Saturday and our second's are playing their seconds, so it's a double header. It's important to get a result then to get us back on track going into the three week Christmas break."
