Injuries hit team

Forgeside 0 v St Julians 34

Both teams fought out a 15-15 draw earlier in the season and this fixture had the potential of being another close encounter. Unfortunately this did not materialise as the hosts bagged the two points and knocked Forge out of joint second position in the league.

The scoreline, however, does not reflect the performance of the Forge players as they travelled yet again with a depleted side and were further reduced to 13 men in the second half when inspirational scrum half Rhys Morgan and second row Gareth McCann were forced to leave the field through injury. St Julians went into the half time interval 13-0 up with a try from the winger and goals by the fly-half.

In the second half Forge were forced to change a few players positionally with flanker Tony Davies switching to centre, winger Julian Gwillym to scrum half and prop Brian Seabourne to second row.

This did not deter the hosts from scoring further tries by the prop, scrum half and winger as Forge were numerically inferior. Credit must go to the Forge players though for showing character and resilience for the whole 80 minutes with a side ravaged by injuries.

Forge hope to wave a fully fit squad after the Christmas break and with a game in hand will be looking to regain second spot and vying for first.
