Panteg 3 Clydach Wasps 5
Panteg slipped to their second defeat in as many weeks after they were outgunned at home to Clydach Wasps.
A lack of concentration and failure to deal with some quality Clydach set-pieces was Panteg's undoing as they fell to sixth in the table ahead of the Christmas break.
Clydach took the lead after 15 minutes, converting from a free-kick after Panteg had failed to properly clear their lines.
A golden opportunity to level the scores was missed on 25 minutes when Lee Morris failed to convert a penalty.
And they were made to pay for their wastefulness ten minutes later as the Panteg goalkeeper was beaten with a 35-yard screamer that flew over his head and into the roof of the net.
Panteg did pull a goal back just before half time though when they were awarded another penalty.
Lewis Williams took responsibility this time and made no mistake, keeping his side in the game going into the second period.
But the Panteg revival was short-lived as Clydach restored their two-goal advantage on the hour mark.
Panteg halved the deficit five minutes later through a Dan Parfitt free kick but further goals from Clydach on 66 and 80 minutes put the game beyond Panteg despite a late Ben Gifford consolation.
Speaking after the game, Panteg manager Paul Thomas said he was grateful his side now had a three week lay-off before their next match. "I'm more than happy with a couple of weeks break for the boys to recharge their batteries, he said.
"We'll be training in between and organising a practice match before our next game against Castle United in the cup."
