Ponty secure future

Pontypool Utd travelled to Blaina for a victory that would ensure that they would play Division Three rugby next year.

Utd started brightly and Damion Smith crashed over near the sticks for the first of his three tries and this was converted by outside half Steve Johnson.

Blaina hit right back with a try from a five metre line out. Smith gathered a kick into the corner to score an unconverted try. Blaina hit back to score a converted try to tie the scores at 12-12 a minute prior to half time. Damion Smith scored his third try make it 17-12.

In the second half Blaina started stronger.

While under extreme pressure full back Morgan Parry ran 75 metres to score in the corner.

Utd held on until the last five minutes when a try and conversion left the score Blaina 19 v Utd 22.

Tonight Utd entertain close rivals Cwmbran with a 7.30pm kick off and on Saturday Llanishen are the visitors to Conway Road.
