Race is on for second place

ALTHOUGH Crickhowell had lost their last two games their total of 54 points from 24 games with two games left is enough to secure the Division One title and the League's nomination to the Gwent County FA League.

There is a good scrap going on for the runner's up spot between current second placed team Govilon, on 47 points with one game left to play, and Usk Town with 42 points with three games left to play and if Usk Town win their last three they will just pip Govilon for the runner's up spot.

In Division Two Prescoed holds top position, they have finished their programme on 62 points. Race United, with two games to play, are on 58 points, so two wins for Race would give them the Division Two title and promotion to Division One.

Crickhowell lost to Panteg 3-1. Panteg move up to thirteenth position. Usk Town recorded a 6-1 home win over Pontypool Town.

In mid-week Pontypool Town followed up on the previous Saturday's 1-0 win over Crickhowell by beating Llanarth at home 3-2, and hold fourteenth position.

On Saturday Llanarth had a 4-2 home win over Tranch United. Tranch hold sixth position and Llanarth are in tenth position.

Cwmffrwdoer kept up their winning ways with six points from their two games. In mid-week they won the local derby with Tranch Utd 3-0. Tranch United are in sixth position. On Saturday Cwmffrwdoer beat the Mardy 5-1. Cwmffrwdoer holds fourth position and Mardy are in eighth position. In a mid-table clash Goytre and Gilwern & District drew their match 2-2. Gilwern & Dist. holds fifth position and Goytre are in eleventh position.

In Division Two Race United closed the gap on current Division Two leaders Prescoed with two wins and six points in the week. In mid-week Race won their local derby home match over New Inn 5-2.

On Saturday Race Utd had a convincing 5-0 home win over Usk Town B. Race Utd established a 3-0 half time lead. Usk B are in tenth position.

Pandy was another team who collected maximum points from their two games played in mid-week. Pandy went to Crickhowell B and won 2-0.

On Saturday Pandy beat New Inn at home 4-1. Pandy led 2-0 at half time. Pandy holds third position, New Inn are in fifth position.

Crickhowell B on Saturday won 4-2 away at Pontypool Town B, but it was Pontypool B who led 2-0 at half time. .

Pontypool B held their lead until the 65th minute then Crickhowell B scored four. Crickhowell B holds fourth position and Pontypool Town B are in thirteenth position. Fairfield B are finishing the season on a high. Fairfield had a 4-1 mid-week home win over Mardy B.

Fairfield hold ninth position and Mardy B holds eleventh position. Prescoed won the second leg of the Free Press Cup 7-1 over Gilwern B to go through 7-4 on aggregate. In the next round Prescoed are home to Thursdays.
