Goytre suffer double defeat

After a recent revival Goytre slumped to two defeats in four days last week. The Plough Road club were defeated 2-1 by league leaders Troedyrhiw last Wednesday and went down at third placed Treharris on Saturday.

Goytre are not in any immediate danger though as they currently stand fifth from bottom and a healthy 11 points ahead of Field Park Ponllanfraith who occupy the last relegation space.

"I think we need a couple more points to be safe," said Goytre chairman Paul Greenhalgh.

Goytre travel to Blaenrhondda on Wednesday before facing bottom club Albion Rovers on Saturday.

Apart from the conclusion of their league campaign Goytre are also in the semi-finals of the Shamrock Welsh League Cup where they meet Pontardawe. The other semi-final sees Goytre United play Briton Ferry
