FOLLOWING the launch of our campaign to 'Pool It Together, support traders and our town, the regeneration partnership has responded by offering 1,000 cups of tea or coffee to shoppers.
Despite delays in the regeneration work, everyone in the town wants to attract new shoppers and reward their loyal customers.
So the offer of a free cuppa to one thousand Pontypool shoppers could be just the start of a drive to put the town back on the map.
In last week's front page article, many strong opinions were expressed from traders who said they were struggling to eek out a living.
But the Regeneration Partnership claim that with the imminent return of the buses to Crane Street, the Kwik Save steps and the new shops confirmed for the former Tesco and Hypervalue building, Pontypool is on its way up.
Today, Regeneration Partnership chairman Councillor John Marshall said: "We all realise that the traders have had a hard time, but all the regeneration want is for all of us to work together.
"We are working as fast as we can, our hearts are in it and the aim now has to be to put Pontypool in the premier league."
