'Doer's win seals league top spot

THE 'Doer had three matches left to complete their season and needed to win at least two to assure promotion to Division One for next season. Monday, April 25: Fairfield 0 - Cwmffrwdoer 2

The 'Doer started brightly, attacking at every opportunity and were rewarded in the 15th minute. Neat interplay with David Jenkins and Ryan Waite found Mark Gunter to shoot the ball past the home 'keeper to take a 1-0 lead.

Fairfield weren't prepared to make it easy for the 'Doer and did not concede another goal until the 60 minute when Robbie Peake hit a powerful 25 yard volley to secure a 2-0 win. Owain Yorke, Chris Bradbury and Ricky Malson were a tower of strength in defence and Ross Peake looked lively up front, coming on for the last 20 minutes.

Wednesday, April 27: Cwmffrwdoer 4 - Tillery 1

The 'Doer entertained Tillery, playing their third game in five days, both teams played an expansive game, looking to attack at every opportunity.

In the 25 minute Robbie Peake put Kristian Howells in space to round two defenders and the 'keeper to place the ball into an empty net to break the deadlock. But 1-0 was never enough and in the 60 minute Tillery scored to make it 1-1.

Within five minutes the 'Doer regained the lead through a headed goal from Ryan Waite and minutes later 'keeper Sam Morris made a point blank save to keep his side in front and go on to win the game with two goals from Mark Gunter, 75 and 80 minutes, to secure the three points and promotion assured to Division One.

Saturday, April 30: Cwmffrwdoer 5 Lliswerry FC 0

Cwmffrwdoer were looking for the double over Lliswerry, six points behind them but they pushed the 'Doer all the way with their two pacey strikers. After 30 minutes Ryan Waite scored with a 20 yard volley to put the 'Doer 1-0 up, ten minutes later it was 2-0 when Waite squared the ball for Kyle Tovey to place the ball wide of the keeper.

In the 55 minute Matthew Jackson made it 3-0 when he raced past three defenders to draw the keeper and slot the ball in the net. Minutes later Sam Morris made a fantastic save from close range, the ball was cleared to halfway when Kristian Howells ran 40 yards to draw the 'keeper to score his 18th league goal of the season and make it 4-0. In the 85 minute the icing was on the cake when 'keeper Morris scored from the penalty spot and kept his tenth clean sheet of the season.

This 5-0 win confirmed the 'Doer as League Champions of Division Two. Congratul- ations to all the players, managers and coaches.
