Goytre go into tonight's home game with Treowen hoping for the win that they believe would guarantee Welsh League football at Plough Road for another year.
Two points from two games last week left Goytre bosses with mixed emotions as the season's end.
Last Tuesday a Darren Haynes penalty on the stroke of half time cancelled out an earlier Blaenrhondda effort and meant Goytre returned home with a share of the spoils.
The big defender ran the length of the field before being brought down by the home goalkeeper but picked himself up and converted the spot kick. A satisfactory draw for Goytre was followed by one that was wholly unsatisfactory.
On Saturday the Abergavenny side led bottom club Albion Rovers 4-1 with 20 minutes remaining.
But remarkably they let that lead slip and Rovers were to go on and equalise in the last minute.
"We were pleased to draw at Blaenrhondda," said Goytre Chairman Paul Greenhalgh. "But Saturday was disappointing even though we had a weakened team out.
"I still think we need three more points to make sure we're completely safe and hopefully we'll get that against Treowen.
"We need three points to put us safe from relegation and the sooner they come the better," he added.
Following Treowen, Goytre face league games against Pentwyn Dynamos and Risca as well as a Shamrock Cup Welsh League cup semi-final against Pontedawe to be played at Caerau Ely.
Their second team will also be in Cup action when they play in the final of the Gwent Open Cup.
