Pooler clinch Plate competition

District Schools National Sevens Rugby Tournament - Dunvant Pontypool District Schools have recently returned from their successful tour to Italy where they took part in the Topolino 10s tournament Treviso and, within a week of their return, travelled to Dunvant for the National Sevens competition.

Pooled in the group of death with the favourites Cardiff and other big guns Pontypridd, Pooler arrived without any real preparation but played with real ambition and were rewarded with a semi-final spot in the Plate competition. Cardiff were pool winners and progressed to the Cup semis. Pooler produced their best for the semis against a big South Powys outfit and played some expansive rugby, a style the opposition could not cope with.

Pooler met Swansea in the final which was a close encounter but the fitness of the players made the difference with the Red, Black and Whites triumphing by 15-10 to clinch the Plate competition.
