Race prepare for friendly fixture

Race AFC pre-season preparations go up a notch this Saturday as they prepare for their first friendly, away to near neighbours Sebastopol, Kick Off: 3.00pm.

The Race training sessions are currently being held at their junior section's field at the lower end of the Albion Road playing fields, to save the clubs ground which is still undergoing alterations. Training sessions commence at 6.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Organisation on and off the field are going really well, with both sets of committees, the normal and centenary hard at work finalising preparations for the new season for all players old and new to enjoy.

With pre-season training now well underway the club still welcome any new players wishing to join the club to attend training sessions on the above days and times, all new players will be made very welcome and hope that you enjoy your football experience with one of the most friendly and organised clubs within the area.

As part of the club policy each player will be allowed one friendly, where he doesn't have to register, but for the remaining friendlies players must register as a player of Race AFC in order to be legible for selection.

This policy will allow the clubs management and coaching staff to assess all the players wishing to play for the club, and to begin to build trophy contending teams for both the First and Second XI.

The First XI will again compete in the Gwent County League Division Two, after last seasons solid first term in the division and the Second XI will compete in Gwent Central League Division One after winning promotion last season.
