Coaching fires Town up for the upcoming season

Pontypool Town have been in training now for over a month and at last week's sessions there were over 30 in attendance.

The set up of having a FAW coach seems to have really galvanised the players who are all eager and willing to put in that extra effort to improve their fitness. The quality of the coaching is a real plus and the skill levels are certainly improving the drills they are given. The players are finding the sessions strenuous but are very happy with the set up and the morale in the club is sizzling.

Although there is still nearly a month before the season starts, already there are 26 signed on with several new additions to last season's squad. Ponty have already played one friendly where the teams were changed at half-time and although Ponty lost the first half they improved considerably in the second half and won 4-3. There are a series of friendly matches planned with Pandy the opponents this coming Saturday and players are already holding their hands up for selection.

For any new players wishing to join the club or have a look at the set-up, training is on Tuesday and Thursday at the Albion staring at 6.30pm. The committee is certainly thrilled with the way matters are going and pleased that they have decided to adopt this different approach to training. After several season in the doldrums the committee are hoping that better days are just around the corner and everyone involved is looking forward to the new season.
