Man terrorised his street and made threats to kill woman

This is the face of a Cwmbran man who threatened to kill a young woman in the street and terrorised neighbours.

Kevin Hanford, 46, of Porth Mawr Road, Northville, Cwmbran, was found guilty of making threats to kill at Newport crown court on Friday.

Neighbours of Hanford said his abusive behaviour has left them living in fear. They say they don't want him back in their street.

And now police, who describe him as a "neighbour from hell", have confirmed an investigation is taking place into Hanford's behaviour.

Foundry worker Mike Morgan, 59, who lives in the flat opposite Hanford, said: "The man is a menace. You never know what he is going to do next. "He is very noisy and often drunk. I don't want people like that living next door to me."

Another, a female neighbour, who would not be named for fear of reprisals, said: "He is a nuisance and a danger. He always seems to be drunk and often stands on his balcony shouting abuse at people.

"He is noisy, slamming doors, playing loud music, watching television and shouting."

PC Darrell Dewar, Cwmbran's crime and reduction officer, said: "I can confirm that police have been called to the address on numerous occasions to deal with various incidents of disorder including complaints of drunken and abusive behaviour.

"Kevin Hanford's conduct is currently being investigated by the statutory partnership under the Crime and Disorder Act."

Newport crown court on Friday heard that Hanford, who has convictions for 136 offences, terrified 22-year-old Jodie foster when he threatened to kill her on a Cwmbran street in March.

Ms Foster called her parents on her mobile phone, who confronted Hanford and called the police. He is currently in custody awaiting sentence while a psychiatric report is carried out.
