Gwent County Division One
RTB Ebbw Vale 3 Cwmffrwdoer Sports 3
Cwmffrwdoer travelled to Eugene Cross for a noon kick off having beaten RTB 8-0 in August in their first game in Division One.
They started off at a cracking pace and within ten minutes were 1-0 up after good inter-passing from Robbie Peake and Ryan Waite, who crossed the ball into the area for Kristian Howells to score with a headed goal.
In the 20th minute the 'Doer went 2-0 up after Jamie Roch and Ryan Waite created space for Robbie Peake to beat the defender and place the ball wide of the home keeper to score.
But within five minutes RTB reduced the lead to 2-1 getting behind the defence to score and jolt the visitors. Both sides created further chances but the score remained 2-1 at half time.
The 'Doer should have wrapped the game up early in the second half, creating good scoring opportunities from Ian Gulliford, Matthew Jackson and Jamie Roch whose strike hit the upright and was kicked off the line. Twenty-five minutes into the half RTB made it 2-2, and in the 90th, substitute Ross Mote put the 'Doer back in front 3-2 with a fierce 20 yard volley.
In the 95th minute from a free kick the ball was judged to have crossed the line by the referee who awarded the goal to make it 3-3, to the dismay of the visitors who had to settle for one point.
Saturday, January 7, the County side are home to Abercarn in round three of the Amateur Cup, 1.45pm kick off. The Central side are away to Lower New Inn, 2.15pm kick off.
