Fat-fighters unite

IF YOU are thinking of a New Year's resolution the tale of two local women could provide the inspiration.

Slimming World Consultants Cheryll Hoskins and Anne Aveyard showed that slimmers were streets ahead as they met stars of national soap Coronation Street.

At a glittering awards ceremony the Torfaen women got an extra special cuddle from TV star Bradley Walsh, better known as Danny Baldwin. Mr Walsh co-hosted the event at the ICC in Birmingham alongside Slimming World's Founder and chairman Margaret Miles-Bramwell. He said: "It was an honour to help these special slimmers and their Slimming World consultants celebrate their achievements with an evening they will never forget. After making such life changing steps, they really are unrecognisable from their former selves. The courage and determination these slimmers have shown to be where they are today is truly amazing."

The event topped off another fantastic year for consultants Cheryll and Anne, whose slimming groups have proved popular and successful throughout Torfaen.

Anyone who has resolved to shed the pounds in 2006 can join their groups and get a helping hand to get started.

Torfaen Slimming World groups are held at Zion Hill Community Centre, Pontnewynydd, every Wednesday at 6.30pm, or Green Lawn, New Inn, every Monday at 6pm and 7.30pm.

There are also meetings at Panteg House, Griffithstown every Wednesday at 4pm, 5.30pm and 7pm, or Cwmbran Rugby Football Club, Pontnewydd every Tuesday at 3.30pm, 5pm and 6.30pm.

Cheryll said: "New Year resolutions often crumble at the first hurdle, but making a positive lifestyle change for a healthier you in 2006 needn't be too much of a struggle. From January families, children, students, and senior citizens can enjoy reduced membership rates at Slimming World."
