Garner's plea for Wales chance

Cwmbran-born goalkeeper Glyn Garner has pleaded with Wales manager John Toshack to "make his dream come true", and select him for international duty after his FA Cup heroics a week ago.

Garner, who plays for League Two club Leyton Orient, saved a penalty last Sunday to seal a giant-killing 2-1 win for his side against Premiership side Fulham and now he wants to play a part in his country's friendly against Paraguay at the Millennium Stadium on March 1.

Garner said: "I'm Welsh through and through. With me, it's not a case of being qualified for Wales because my grandparents were Welsh. "I'm 100 percent Welsh. I'm a Cwmbran boy and I want to play for my country.

"My family still live in Cwmbran and they would be so proud.

Garner was nominated by the FA as a Player of the Round after his crucial save and will now visit Charlton - another London-based Premiership side - in the fourth round.

"I'm a little disappointed that I've never been called up by Wales because I am one of the few Welsh goalkeepers playing first-team football," Garner added.
