HILLSIDE Primary school in Blaenavon is due to celebrate its centenary as children invite past teachers and pupils back to mark the occasion.
Anyone who went to the school or taught there has been asked to register their interest in joining the school for a celebratory sing-along on Wednesday, February 8.
Councillor Daniels originally opened the school in 1906 and present-day pupils are set to enjoy their school's 100th birthday by dressing up in Edwardian costumes and learning more about its history.
Hillside alumni are invited to the 'Centenary Sing Along' on Wednesday February 8 at 1.30pm.
All staff and pupils ask is that they "bring along their best singing voices." Everyone who goes will be presented with a centenary gift and the school are hoping to organise free transport from Cwmbran, Pontypool, and Blaenavon for visiting guests.
If you know a past pupil or teacher, or you are a past pupil or teacher please contact the school to register for the event on 01495 790295.
As spaces are limited please contact the school to register, and book your ticket.
Throughout the week children will take part in activities celebrating the anniversary including a reenactment of the opening ceremony for parents, pupils and governors, and representatives from the Local Education Authority.
The County Records Office will be displaying a list local books and information to show the history of Hillside.
Deputy Headteacher Debbie Woodward, said: "We hope to make this time in Hillside's history one not to be forgotten!"
