Panteg clinch victory in close fought game

New Panteg welcomed RTB Ebbw Vale to the polo grounds on Sunday, hoping to continue their fine winning run.

It was never going to be an easy game for the home side, who have been hit hard lately by injuries, and who had to loan three under-11s for the game.

Despite the injuries, New Panteg started strongly, and with just 10 minutes on the clock, the well-drilled Pantegbacks carved out an opening for full back Brandon Kent to power over for his fourth try in two games.

Ebbw fought back well, but a resolute Panteg defence denied them an equalizer, and at half time, Panteg were leading 5-0.

The start of second half saw Ebbw again camped on the Panteg line, but a spilled pass allowed Panteg captain Will Davies, to gather the ball in his own 22 and sprint the length of the field to score under the posts. Lewis Bury put over the conversion, and Panteg led 12-0.

In the dying moments, Ebbws forwards finally drove over the line for a try. The final score New Panteg 12-5 RTB Ebbw Vale.

New Panteg would like to thank Harry Groves, and Alex and Ashley Jefferies from the under 11s for stepping in and playing.
