ALL Saturday's games were played in sunny weather, but with a cold chilly wind especially on high grounds.

Match of the day in Division One was the visit of League Division One leaders Clydach Wasps to the Island to play sixth placed team Usk Town, and the match finished up two apiece. Jeremy Barton gave Usk Town a 1-0 half time lead with a goal following excellent play by George Ashworth. On the hour Danial Bevan put Usk Town 2-0 up. The Wasps then got their game together and pulled level at 2-2 with two second half goals scored by Shaun Williams and Leigh Williams. In the closing stages of the game Usk Town went all out for a winner and it appeared to be on the cards from a powerful header at the Wasps goal from Jeremy Barton, but the effort was brilliantly saved by the Clydach Wasps goal-keeper Nick Brown. MOM Clydach Wasps: Ryan Price. MOM Usk Town: George Ashworth. Tranch Utd swapped position at the top with Clydach Wasps following their 5-1 home win over Mardy. Goal scorers for Tranch Utd were a hat-trick from Chris Watkins (one from the penalty spot) plus two from Shaun Williams. Rod Webb scored the Mardy goal. MOM Tranch Utd: Shaun Williams. Goytre remain in third position following their 4-2 away win at Race Utd who are suffering from a long club injury list this season. Goal scorers for Race Utd were Jason Howells and Martin Bewick. Fourth placed team Blaenavon Blues are recording some strange results of late. One week they win 6-2 and the next week they lose 6-1 which is what happened to the Blues on Saturday when they played mid-tablers Llanarth. Llanarth's goals came from a hat-trick by Stephen Morgan plus a goal apiece from Michael Morgan, Toby Preece and Robert Skipp. Blaenavon Blues goal was scored by Ryan Keen. In the local Division One derby match between Pontypool Town and Cwmffrwdoer the result was 0-0, though both sides had scoring opportunities. Goalkeeper Wayne Ottley played very well for Pontypool Town and David Burgham earned Man of the Match for Cwmffrwdoer.

Lower New Inn were looking good at half time by holding Govilon to 1-1 at half time, but Butch Morgan's side Govilon, went up a gear in the second half and rattled in six more goals with just one goal added for the Lower. Goal scorers for Lower New Inn were Tim Lane and Alun Willis. Goal scorers for Govilon were Paul Daly, Dean Morgan (2), Lee Waite, Matthew Ham, Stuart Norman and Jason Williams. Gilwern & District collected valuable maximum points from a 4-0 home win over visitors Panteg. Adam Carrington put Gilwern into a 1-0 lead with a goal scored in the 25th minute. Two minutes into the second half Graham Jones scored to make it 2-0 to Gilwern. Chris Davies made the points safe with his first of two goals he scored in the 70th and 86th minutes. His second goal was a spectacular half volley around the Panteg keeper from 20 yards. MOM Gilwern: Steve Williams. MOM Panteg: Lee Williams.

Prescoed stay top of Division Two following their 9-3 win over PILCS. Goal scorers for PILCS were Paul Taylor, Michael Morrison and Nathan Bones. Goal scorers for Prescoed were Jay Roberts (4), Tony Jones (3) and Ian Williams (2). MOM PILCS: Andy Kent. MOM Prescoed: Ian Williams. Match of the day in Division Two was third placed team New Inn's visit to second placed Pandy. When the sides met on October 29 at New Inn, they finished up all square at 4-4 with New Inn's Lee Foxhall scoring a hat-trick in the last five minutes so all eyes were on this one. On the day maximum points went to Pandy who won the match 2-1 which widens the gap between second and third positions to ten points, but New Inn have two games in hand and there is still a long way to go to the end of the season. Goal scorers for Pandy were Leyton Davies and Ross Fury. The goal scorer for New Inn was Nicky Tudball. MOM Pandy: Leyton Davies. MOM New Inn: Dan Westcott.

Crickhowell won 4-0 away over neighbours Clydach B. Goal scorers for Crickhowell were Ben Morris, Mark Eacott, Ross Clements and David Bowkett. MOM Clydach B: Jordan Powell. MOM Crickhowell: Ross Clements.

Pontypool B went down to Pen-y-pound Stadium and beat Thursdays 2-0. Goal scorers for Pontypool Town B were Nathan Jeremiah and Scott Taylor. MOM Thursdays: Robert Morris. MOM Pontypool Town B: Phil Rogers. Phil Norris did well as a stand-in referee.

Usk Town B collected their second win of the season by beating Mardy B at Bailey Park 2-0. John Lloyd and Rhys Prtichard scored the Usk B goals. MOM Mardy B: Matthew Phillips. MOM Usk Town B: Pat Wong.

An exciting game is reported from Division Two Sebastopol v Fairfield Utd. Sebastopol led 2-0 at half time through goals by Simon Heatman and Rob Whittington. Alex Harper scored early in the second half to put Fairfield Utd back into the game at 2-1. Alex Lewis scored from a free kick to put Sebastopol back into a 3-1 lead. Mark Leek scored from the penalty spot to pull Fairfield back into the match at 3-2, and with just two minutes to go Mark Leek scored his second goal of the match to put the sides level at 3-3. Fairfield Utd nearly stole the points with the last kick of the game but Mark Jones shot went over the bar.

Llanarth B moves up one place following their 4-2 away win over Llanfoist. Goal scorers for Llanarth were prolific goal scorer Rob Westall (2), Dave Griffiths and Mark Hopkins.
