Pontypool Utd moved to second in League Division Three East with a comprehensive win over Abercarn on Saturday.
Utd made three changes from the previous Saturday with Nick Simmons and Nathan Bowles coming into the backs and Craig Jackson into the second row.
On a bitterly cold afternoon Utd played with the wind and opened the score with a penalty from outside-half Darren Pearce, this was soon cancelled out when outside-half Chris Moses slotted an equaliser.
Utd regained the lead when Rob Nash scored from a rolling maul to put Utd 8-3 in front. Right on half time Darren Pearce slotted another penalty which put Utd 11-3 up at the break.
In the second half Utd played some lovely football and scored tries at regular intervals thanks to Rob Nash, Jesse Farthing, Rhys Griffiths and Warren Edwards. Two were converted by Darren Pearce who also kicked another penalty finishing 45-3 victors.
Their next game is at home to New Tredegar on Friday, February 10.
