Prescoed still lead Division Two with a four point gap over second placed team Pandy, but they have used up their game in hand by being beaten 5-3 to newcomers Llanfoist. Prescoed won the Division Two title for the last two years and look favourites to retain their title this season with just six months to go. Prescoed beat Llanfoist 6-0 when the teams met on November 12, 2005 but everyone at Llanfoist FC felt that they should have done better and they worked out their game plan for the return match and Llanfoist came up trumps.
After the first 20 minutes of the game Llanfoist had established a 4-0 lead with an opening goal scored by Joe Morgan, followed by a hat-trick from prolific goal scorer Gareth Williams. Prescoed then got their game going and stopped the Llanfoist goal machine from scoring any more in the first half.
At the start of the second half Prescoed appeared to be getting on top and they managed to pull back the score to 4-3 with goals by Ian Williams, Jay Roberts and Anthony Jones, but then Prescoed started to look a bit jaded and Nathan Jones scored Llanfoist's fifth goal for the 5-3 win and marked Prescoed's first defeat this season from 22 games. MOM Prescoed: Anthony Jones. MOM Llanfoist: goal-keeper Darren Rudd.
Usk Town B beat visitors PILCS on the Island 1-0. The all important goal was scored in the 70th minute by Lee Watkins following a Rees Pritchard corner which was headed at the PILCS goal by Steve Wade, but was brilliantly saved by the PILCS keeper Kevin Brooks. Lee Watkins pounced on the loose ball to score from close range. MOM Usk Town B: Rees Pritchard. MOM PILCS: Justin Edmunds.
All cups should have been returned to the League Chairman, Mr Skinner, by March 1.
