Scoreline unfairly reflects on side

Sebastopol 0 AC Pontymister 4

Manager John Maddox had to make many forced changes for this game, due to players making themselves unavailable to the club for this game.

Maddox was left with twelve players for this game but had no recognised strikers so Sam Davies and Craig Williams played up front and the team switched to a four four two formation.

With 15 minutes gone Sebastopol had settled with many players now getting used to the pace of the game but disaster struck as the Pontymister scored from a free kick bent into the far corner.

This unsettled Sebastopol and within a minute they conceded another goal to give Pontymister a 2-0 lead. Sebastopol had more problems when keeper Tony Perry pulled his groin but had to carry on.

In the second half the game was quite equal with neither team looking like scoring. Sebastopol were unlucky when Williams beat the keeper to a long ball but the defender got back to clear before any Sebastopol player could reach the ball.

At the midway point of the half Sebastopol were well in the game but again Pontymister grabbed two unlikely goals.

Sebastopol did not deserve this scoreline and tried hard to get some reward for there hard work but could not find away past a resolute Pontymister back line.

To the team's credit they had Simon Wells and Sam Davies both suffering from injuries in the last ten minutes but kept a superb work rate going until the final Whistle. Maddox was full of praise for all the players who proved they can play and compete at this level with Dazza putting in a great performance to win man of the match for Sebastopol. But all the players should be pleased with there contribution in the game and have proved they will add competition for first team places which is good for the club.
