Blues back on track

After a four-week lay-off due to bad weather Blaenavon Blues Girls got straight back to winning ways with a convincing away win at Lantrisant. However it did take the Blues a while to get into their stride as they found themselves 1-0 down after only one minute. It took the Blues another 15 minutes before they grabbed the equalizer. Then again minutes later they took the lead with a well struck goal from striker Lyndsey Davies after some good interplay between themidfielders and strikers. Giving the Blues the halftime advantage 1-2.

Again in the second half the Blues were slow getting started and it took 10 minutes for them to move further ahead once again a well worked move ended in striker Lyndsey Davies hitting the back of the net. It was then the turn of dynamic midfielder Sian Pritchard to get on the score sheet with a belter of a goal.

After this goal the Blues did relax slightly and allow the home side some posession and with five minutes remaining and the score still at 1-4 the Blues finally sewed the game up with three well-taken goals to make the final score Lantrisant 1 Blaenavon Blues 7.

The Blues under 11's played in an exciting game on Saturday away against Cwmbran Celtic, both sides played exceptionally well and players and supporters both enjoyed an exciting 1-1 draw. Which indicates a bright future for girls football in Blaenavon.
