A taste of things to come

A LOCAL businessman has pledged his support to the regeneration of Pontypool town centre with plans to open a new hot food and coffee shop, in Market Street.

Colin Jones, of Skenfrith, Monmouthshire, is the owner of Lazy Dayz, a successful food retail business based in Abergavenny.

Mr Jones recently expanded the business to Blackwood and now plans on opening an outlet in Pontypool.

Work is already underway to transform the former Motorworld outlet, previously the home of long established men's tailors, Hodges, into a caf with seating for up to 80 people.

"Pontypool is an up and coming town again, I have always been familiar with the area as my father, who is a farmer, used to deliver potatoes to the market," He said.

"We hope to operate a serving hatch for takeaway food and also provide outdoor seating."

Lazy Dayz Hot Food and Coffee Shop will provide a selection of hot food, and specialises in roast dinners.

Mr Jones continued: "A lot of the food is grown on our family farm and is of high quality.

Lazy Dayz is expected to be open for business on April 3.
