Wind is against 'Doer

CWMFFRWDOER Sport travelled to league leaders Mardy without their two centre backs Kevin Lewis and Kevin Davies, with Ian Gulliford and Owain York coming into the side.

And the forced changes to the visitor's side only hampered their chances as the in-form Mardy extended their long unbeaten run into a fourth month thanks to a Jonathan Davies hat-trick. On a heavy pitch and with a strong wind behind them, the home side raced into a 2-0 lead.

The first came from a long throw into the area for Aaron Davies to head in at the far corner and within minutes Sam Morris was called on to make a good save from a powerful free kick. But Jonathan Davies soon made it two, racing onto a through ball and finishing neatly.

The second finally spurred Doer into making a game of it, and after putting Mardy on the back foot were rewarded on 25 minutes when David Jenkins was brought down and Mathew Shearman converted the penalty.

Down the slope and with the wind in their favour for the second half, the visitors played with more cohesion and controlled passing - testing Mardy's goal with efforts from Gulliford, Shearman and Mathew Jackson.

But against the run of play with 15 minutes to go Mardy grabbed a soft third goal off Jonathan Davies' head.

Within minutes Doer were offered a lifeline when Mardy conceded an own goal from a backpass for 3-2. But the referee denied them the opportunity to level after the re-start when Kristian Howells appeared to be fouled in the box.

With two minutes to go Mardy finally wrapped up the points, with Jonathan Davies chipping the keeper to complete his hat trick.
