NOT for the first time this season the torrential downpours all week put pay to Race First XI's home fixture with Abertillery Bluebirds, the club did try and switch it, but their opponents field was also waterlogged.
The first XI have had a good run of results as of late, taking seven points out of a possible nine and were looking to build on this, albeit against a good young Abertillery side, but the weather altered this run.
The second XI have put in some valiant performances in their last couple of games, but have not played in six weeks, the club we like to thank them for sticking with it, despite the recent lack of fixtures and to find form that will be needed to draw them away from their precarious position at the foot of the table.
It's come to that time in the season were a fixture pileup is inevitable, we are now in the last month of the season and both sides have six fixtures each, with a club total of nine games at home. Club officials are hoping that the weather will be kind to them in coming weeks.
The clubs centenary presentation will take place at Race LSC on Saturday, May 20, anybody wishing to attend will need to pay for their tickets by April 31, tickets are priced at £8 per person, see Scott Jenkins or another club official on match days.
The second XI play tonight versus Govilon at home, kick off is at 6pm, all players to meet at changing rooms 5.15pm.
Fixtures for Saturday, April 8
First XI: versus Llanhilleth Athletic (away) 3pm kick off.
Second XI: versus Mardy AFC (home) 3pm kick off.
The Second XI also play on Wednesday, April 12 versus Blaenavon Blues (home) 6pm kick off.
For weekend fixtures, players to meet at club for 1:30pm and for midweek at changing rooms at 5:15pm.
