LOCAL rivals Cwmffrwdoer Sport and Panteg AFC recently met in the Gwent County First Division, with the home side emerging 1-0 winners after dominating the game.

The Doer had unleashed a continuous barrage of attacks on the Panteg goal, but several chances were wasted and their only score came from Matthew Shearman from 15 yards out, on 20 minutes.

Ten minutes later Shearman was denied a second by the crossbar while further chances fell to Ryan Waite, Kristian Howells and Mark Hurford.

After the break a free kick from Shearman was hit on the volley by Mathew Jackson, but the shot flew past the post with Stephen Gingell well beaten.

The result was Cwmffrwdoer's second win in two days, after easing past title challengers Blaenavon Blues on Monday, April 3, thanks to three second half goals from Ross Peake, Ross Mote and Scott Horseman.
