TRANCH United lifted the Division One title following their midweek 4-0 home win over Lower New Inn. Tranch United established a 2-0 half-time lead. Goal scorers for Tranch were Richard Wakeling, Kevin Jones, Shaun Williams and Chris Watkins. Man of the match was Shaun Williams. Tranch still have to play three games.

Tranch United last won silverware in 1982/83 when they won Division One and the Langdon Cup. Tranch also defeated Govilon, who were chasing the runners-up spot, 4-2. Goal scorers for Tranch United versus Govilon were a hat-trick by Richard Wakeling and one from Andrew Burchill.

Goal scorers for Govilon were Shaun Morgan and Dean Morgan. Man of the match for Tranch was Shaun Williams, man of the match for Govilon was Jason Williams. Govilon stay in third position with one to go.

Clydach Wasps claimed the runners-up spot by winning 2-1 away to Race United, with the all important winning goal scored in the 88th minute by Matthew Edwards. Race United are in 13th position. Man of the match for Race was Andy Pollard, man of the match for Clydach Wasps was Mark Hillman.

In midweek Govilon won 2-1 away to Cwmffrwdoer. Cwmffrwdoer hold sixth position.

In midweek Race United took valuable maximum points by beating Blaenavon Blues 4-1. The Race United goals came from a Paul Haywood hat-trick, and Jason Howells got one. Karl Hooper scored for the Blues. Man of the match for Race United was Paul Hayward, man of the match for Blaenavon Blues was Marc Browning. Blaenavon Blues hold seventh position.

Pontypool Town took four points from two matches played. In midweek they had a 1-1 home draw with Llanarth On Saturday, Pontypool Town won 3-1 away to Panteg. Pontypool Town are in ninth position. In midweek Panteg won 3-0 at home to Mardy. Panteg hold 12th position. Lower New Inn bounced back to winning ways on Saturday with a 4-1 home win over Gilwern & District. Lower New Inn hold 11th position, Gilwern & District tenth.

The local derby between Goytre and Usk Town finished up all square at 0-0. Division Two leaders Prescoed stay top following their 7-1 win over Crickhowell. At half-time Prescoed led 6-0. In the second half Crickhowell held Prescoed to a single goal and pulled one back themselves. Prescoed play Gilwern B next Tuesday and they need maximum points to take the Division Two title. Crickhowell hold third position.

Second placed Pandy have had no game on rota for a week but Pandy may have to be content with second position plus promotion to Division One.

Third placed team Pilcs collected four points from their two games this week. On Monday they drew 0-0 away to Fairfield United and on Saturday they had a 3-0 home win over Mardy B. Pilcs stay in fourth position, Mardy B hold 15th position.

New Inn had a busy week playing catch up with three games in six days but the side did very well by collecting seven points. On Monday they beat Abergavenny Thursdays at home 6-0, on Wednesday they drew 1-1 at home to Gilwern B, and on Saturday they beat local rivals Sebastopol 5-0. New Inn had two games in hand but they cannot overtake Prescoed or Pandy. Sebastopol hold eighth position.

In midweek Pontypool Town B beat Aber Thursdays 5-3 in a very entertaining game. The sides were level 1-1 at half-time. Thursdays hold 13th position.

Llanarth B had a 3-0 home win on Thursday over Mardy B. On Saturday, Llanarth B beat Pontypool Town B 4-3. The sides were level 1-1 at half-time. Llanarth B hold tenth position, Pontypool Town B hold sixth.

In the week Fairfield United played three, won one and had two draws. In a cup semi-final rehearsal Fairfield United and Pilcs drew 0-0. Their Benevolent Cup semi-final will be played at Cwmffrwdoer on Monday 18.

Fairfield United beat Usk Town B 6-0 on Wednesday. Usk Town hold 14th position. On Saturday, Fairfield United visited Pen-y-Pound Stadium to play Abergavenny Thursdays. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, both goals came in the first half. Fairfield United hold seventh position.
