When it comes to trying to conceive, what is fact and what is fiction?

Couples trying to conceive are often inundated with advice on how to fall pregnant, but a lot of the suggestions could well be myths.

In an article in the Daily Telegraph, Nick Collins said individuals trying for a baby are often told to start taking natural remedies.

Dong Quai is a Chinese plant that supposedly boosts the chances of embryo implantation and he noted many women also take False Unicorn Root, which reportedly stimulates ovulation.

Mr Collins explained men are advised to wear boxer shorts rather than briefs as the air that circulates around the reproductive organs allegedly increases sperm production.

However, Mr Collins stated fertility experts have no evidence to back this theory up and so have called it a myth.

According to the NHS, men who have fertility problems are advised to adapt their lifestyle habits, reduce their alcohol intake and lose any excess weight.

And one of the most common reasons women struggle to conceive is an ovulation problem such as polycystic ovarian syndrome.
