KATIE Melua will perform at the Cardiff International Arena on December 12 as part of an extensive European tour to follow the release of her fourth studio album.

The huge success of the single Nine Million Bicycles, released in late 2005, made Melua a household name.

She is currently in the studio finishing the as-yet-untitled record with producer William Orbit.

Melua spent 2009 writing songs for the album, teaming up with songwriting partners Guy Chambers and Rick Nowels amongst others.

Orbit has been running a commentary of the studio sessions on Twitter and Facebook.

One of his posts says: "This is shaping up to be one of the finest things I’ve ever been involved with. I am hearing what can only be described as magic." Ticket cost from £30 and are subject to a booking fee.
