The Incredible Hulk (12A) **** - Ed Norton, Tim Roth and William Hurt.
AFTER Ang Lee's profoundly disappointing Hulk movie back in 2003, virtually unknown director Louis Leterrier's 2008 version is infinitely superior.
There are no pretensions here to dress this up as high art.
This is straight, down the line, pumped up action that does what it says on the tin and does it very well.
Ed Norton does a fine job as Dr David Banner and we are thrust into the relentless pace from the off.
Hiding out from the US military in a Brazilian slum, Banner is forced to make a dash for it when his enemies catch up with him.
The Hulk itself may be about as convincing as Lee's unsatisfactory beast but this film is a different animal when it comes to all-out entertainment.
