WHAT better way is there to get away from the hustle and bustle of a busy day than by escaping to a relaxing Lunchtime Concert?

St David’s Hall presents a sensational series of soothing shows that will provide the perfect chance to unwind amid the sounds of serene strings and piano keys.

Multiple award-winning guitarist Dimitris Dekavallas will perfectly perform a range of soothing acoustic pieces from the likes of Bach on Tuesday 3 February.

If you prefer piano music, we’ve got that covered too with Hannah Watson on Wednesday 11 February. Winner of the prestigious Kenneth Loveland Gift Award in 2013, Watson will perform Scarlatti’s Four Sonatas, Sibelius’ Six Finnish Folksongs and Ravel’s Miroirs.

Plus, acclaimed pianist Nigel Hutchison will join forces with violinist Mayuko Katsumura on Wednesday 25 February for sonatas by Leclair and Strauss, plus Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances.

The Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral Choir and Choristers of St John’s College provide the perfect way to celebrate Easter on Tuesday 17 March – early booking is advised for this popular show! And outstanding organist Huw Tregelles Williams OBE brings the magnificent music of Bach, Franck, Widor and Vierne to the Hall on Tuesday 24 March.

Matthew Jones – described by Fanfare magazine as “the finest violist since William Primrose – shares the stage with the versatile and charismatic Annabel Thwaite for a sensational Schubert sonata (Tuesday 31 March). And continuing on a similar theme, Welsh Singer 2014 competition winner Céline Forrest will be the soprano soloist for performances of Schubert amongst others; accompanied by pianist Finnegan Downie Dear (Tuesday 14 April).

Internationally renowned Thomas Trotter continues to captivate worldwide audiences with the beauty of his organ symphonies – experience them for yourself on Tuesday 21 April. Likewise, pianist Mark Bebbington will breathe characteristic refinement and maturity into his readings of Bach, Franck and Liszt (Tuesday 12 May). Lastly, the innovative Odysseus Piano Trio will delve into the classic and the less familiar with unique verve on Tuesday 2 June.

Before each show a mouth-watering selection of sandwiches, hot drinks and hand-made cakes will be available from our arts café Celf on Level 4. Delicious speciality Welsh cheese and antipasti platters can be booked in advance for just £5.95 each.
