GLOW sticks at the ready, the audience in a dancing mood and, being Welsh, a singing mood too, we all went wild to welcome Barry Manilow back to Cardiff.

He's still got it, and in abundance - what a show.

Having not been in the UK for 12 years, Barry was just as captivating now as he was then. He started the show with It’s A Miracle and, afloat on a sea of green glow sticks, the audience was on its feet singing and dancing.

He sang all his old favourites ¬- Could It Be Magic, Sweet Heaven (I’m in Love Again) and Looks Like We Made It.

As we all know, Barry grew up in Brooklyn, as did his friend, saxophonist Dave Koz, his amazing support act, who also guest appeared during the main show, Barry looks and sounds just as good as he did 20 years ago, the voice not quite as strong perhaps but still just as enjoyable to listen to. He thrilled and entertained us for two hours, not bad for someone who’s getting on a bit, and I’m sure we’ll see him again before he battens down his piano lid for the last time - and if last night’s performance is anything to go by, that won’t be for a very long time yet. He rounded off the set with Copacabana and my favourite, I Write The Songs. Well done Barry, it was just brill.
