The Ffresh bar and restaurant at Wales Millennium Centre was the perfect venue for the latest tour of Faulty Towers, the Dining Experience, the energetic, three-man, inter-active theatre tribute to the timeless 70’s sitcom.

Like lambs to the slaughter we gathered in the bar to enjoy retro canapés and babycham, expertly served, by the way, until Manuel (Leigh Kelly) was ordered to lend a hand! When it was left to Basil (Benedict Holme) to direct the guests to their tables, the mayhem truly began.

What followed was two hours of frenetic, pacy yet remarkably disciplined comedy...and a three-couse meal complete with hilariously shambolic service.

Unsurprisingly, Waldorf salad was off the menu, but how could a starter of soup and a bread roll become so horribly confused?

Sybil (Karina Garnett), characteristically tried to maintain some calm, but by the time we had lurched through the chaos of missing false teeth, a fire drill, Manuel’s missing ‘hamster’ and of course Basil’s increasing frustration, we were all weak with laughter and entirely at their mercy.

Testament, then to three great performances, that the uniqueness and spirit of the television series lives on.
