Musical theatre is thriving in the city at the moment, and while the Riverfront were celebrating their tenth anniversary, the Dolman Theatre were having a celebration of their own in the shape of a storming production of White Christmas by CentreStage Cymru.

Firmly cementing themselves as one of Wales’ most talented performing arts groups, their take on the classic Irving Berlin musical was as professional as any touring West End production that you are likely to see.

In such capable hands as those of Sharon Higgins, Victoria Bryant, Peter Higgins and Andre-Paul Spring, a large and extremely well-rehearsed cast gave one hundred per cent to this heart-warming musical.

Seamless set changes and an upbeat orchestra served to complement the talent and dedication shown on stage as this ensemble tackled each musical number and dance routine with panache and flair.

Male leads Matthew J Bryant as Bob Wallace and Jordan Archer as Phil Davis exuded camaraderie and style in two delicious laid-back performances perfectly off-set by the grace and charm of Sharon Higgins and Rebecca Jarvis as sisters Betty and Judy.

Add in the talents of Martin Woodsford (General Waverly) Michelle Meano (Martha) Marc Williams (Sheldrake) and the impressive eleven year old Katie Massey in her first main role as Susan, and we were effortlessly transported to an era where good humour and consideration for others was paramount.

You have until Saturday to make your Christmas come early.
