On Saturday I spent the afternoon at the Three Wine Men Christmas tasting session hosted by Oz Clarke, Tim Atkin MW and Olly Smith. This was a brilliant opportunity to try a large selection of wines available during the festive season. There was a huge turnout, all the stalls were packed with people sampling and discussing the different wines.
I particularly enjoyed the special featured area ‘Wine and Food from Spain’. There was a variety of alcohol to try from different regions in Spain with wine, beer, flavoured gin and ice cider. Additionally, there was a variation in different types of chorizo, olives, cheese and biscuits that could be tasted.
There were two masterclasses also on offer with ‘the Art of Matching Cheese and Wine’ and ‘Classic New Zealand’ which was presented by Tim Atkin MW. I attended the wine and cheese masterclass which gave you an insight into matching the correct cheese with the appropriate wine. This was an educational and fun class where you could get your hands dirty and taste many of the different matches.
I would recommend this event for both novices and wine experts as it’s an enjoyable event to get you in the festive spirit with a range of affordable and more expensive products to purchase.
