AN ALL new production of the smash hit musical comedy returns to the centre. Directed and choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood, Sister Act tells the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier, a disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective custody, she is hidden in the one place she won't be found - a convent!
Alexandra Burke really shines in the lead role of Deloris Van Cartier almost like the part had been written for her, with all her strengths shining through.
I really enjoyed the characterisation of Eddie, played by Joe Vetch, so much of the character came through the performance on stage. Aaron Lee Lambert gave a strong performance as Curtis with Ricky Rojas, Samuel Morgan-Grahame and Sandy Grigelis stole many a scene as the back up thugs.
It’s hard to single out any one of the brilliant actresses that played the nuns as they all gave outstanding performances with the different characters of each nun shining through. Their singing was as good when it was out of tune as it was when it was in tune.
The show is a fantastic pick me up for an Easter treat and is showing at the Wales Millennium Centre until Saturday April 29.
