Newport's Riverfront Theatre have announced an impressive line-up of music, drama and family shows for their Spring 2014 season.

On the music front you are going to be able to catch up with some of the greatest artists on the circuit performing as some of the worlds biggest artists kicking off with Motown’s Greatest Hits, an ultimate celebration of the sweet sound of Motown with the UK’s Number 1 Motown production.

Then on the rock spectrum there is Andy Fairweather Low, a previous hit with Newport Audiences. If Mr Blue Sky is more your cup of tea then don’t miss The ELO Experience and their Mr Blue Sky Tour—reproducing some of the greatest and most famous hits from the Birmingham super band.

Every song a classic, you’ll be swinging in the aisles with The Rat Pack Vegas spectacular who are also returning to The Riverfront this season along with The Searchers who will be showcasing their hits in April.

If that’s not enough for you then check out the Pop-Up Bowie performance where the UK’s top Bowie impersonator will take you through an evening of all of the songs which made Bowie one of the biggest legends of our time.

There will be a whole host of family shows for parents with children of all ages to enjoy; The First Time Machine will be a voyage of a lifetime for children aged 5+ with live music, theatre and dance. Grandpa’s Railway is the perfect treat from highly acclaimed M6 Theatre featuring a working model railway, live music and two very lively characters. Also for ages 5+.

For younger humans The Riverfront have Theatr Iolo’s Luna on offer which is an enchanting experience about friendship, the moon and being brave in the dark for ages 2-5 year olds and their grown ups. Finally based on the books The Riverfront are also pleased to present Pirate Gran – a magical and new swashbuckling show.

There’s also a jam packed season of Drama on offer featuring shows such as Tin Shed Theatre Company presenting Of Mice and Men, returning after previous sell out success and the world’s greatest detective live on stage! Sherlock Holmes: The Death and Life is a wryly humourous tale of murder, mystery and the occult starring Roger Llewellyn.

In co-production with The Riverfront Theatre Pena are presenting The Killing of Sister George, a comedy drama from the all-female company who previously gave us The Maids, and The Trojan Women and following on from the female theme don’t miss Emily – The Making of a Militant Suffragette an extraordinary show about an extraordinary woman.

2014 will see The Riverfront Theatre and Arts centre in Newport celebrate 10 years since first opening their doors! Since first opening The Riverfront has hosted such a wide range of live acts, including Comedy Festivals, Street Theatre Festivals, mind blowing circus shows, Drama, Family pantomime and much more. Throughout the year there will be special celebrations and offers to get involved with, so keep your eyes peeled for these.
