Penny Dreadful Theatre - the creators of highly acclaimed, innovative shows bring their new show How To Be Immortal to the Borough Theatre on Thursday 6 February 7.30pm.

Created in collaboration with scientists from UCL and Manchester University, How To Be Immortal blends science and human emotion in a unique exploration of coping with life after losing a loved one. The show interweaves three stories to explore what death does to us – and the weird and sometimes wonderful ways we try to hold onto the people we’ve lost:

Rosa has fallen in love with Mick the decorator. She plays the cello, he plays the squeezebox – an unlikely collaboration but they sound great together. Trouble is, she’s pregnant and he’s about to die.

Henrietta Lacks died in West Virginia in 1951, but her cells are still alive, dividing endlessly in laboratories all over the world. It’s taken Deborah years to come to terms with her mother’s death. Now she’s got to deal with her immortality.

A third story explores one of the most extraordinary advances in science: the mapping of DNA.

Penny Dreadful Theatre’s past productions at the Borough Theatre include the acclaimed The Missionary’s Position. The company explore forgotten figures from history, telling stories more complex and fascinating and definitely stranger than fiction.

How To Be Immortal is suitable for 16 years+. The performance will be followed by a discussion with the company.

Tickets, which cost £12 (concessions £10) are available from the Box Office on 01873 850805 or online www.boroughtheatreabergavenny.co.uk
