The two occupants of a black Saab were pronounced dead at the scene and police have named them as 49 year old Nicholas Charles Fermor and 52 year old Susan Caroline Fermor from the Abergavenny area.

A 27 year old woman from Abergavenny, who was driving a blue Subaru Imprezza was injured in the collision and is described as stable in hospital.

The accident happened outside The Hardwick restaurant on the Old Raglan Road just before 12.30pm and police are appealing for witnesses to call them on 01633 643091 or 01633 838111.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Abergavenny, Ebbw Vale and Blaenavon attended the scene and used hydraulic cutting equipment.

Insp Gareth Lintern said that forensic collison officers and traffic policemen are carrying out inquiries to establish the cause of the accident.

12th May.
I have only just heard this very sad news. My heartfelt condolences to family and friends. I worked with Nick and Susan for 3 years, in Oakdale.
Two very fine people, as both friends and colleagues.
Rest in peace, the world is a lesser place without you.
