A HOUSING organisation will be planting 120 trees in Cwmbran next week.

Staff from Bron Afon Community Housing community environmental team will be at Woolpitch in Greenmeadow on November 13 from 10am to plant the trees, which will include Rowan, Oak, Hawthorn and Hazel.

The trees will grow into a young wood in as little as ten years.

Bron Afon applied for and received a community tree pack from the Woodland Trust, as part of the charity’s Jubilee Woods Project, which aims to plant six million trees across the UK.

The project started with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June this year.

Environmental manager, Bron Afon, Simon Morgan, said: “The trees will really enhance the local environment as they grow and will replace trees we have had to remove as part of our ongoing grounds maintenance programme.

“Anyone is welcome to come along on November 13 to help us with the planting.”

For more information, contact Rob Richards, community environmental team, on 0800 111 42 42 or 01633 620 111.

Schools and communities can still apply for a free tree pack. For more details, go to www.woodlandtrust.org.uk
