AN Abergavenny group campaigning to keep the historic Livestock Market in the town has lost its bid to halt plans to build a supermarket on the site.
Two reviews lodged by the Campaign group Keep Abergavenny Livestock Market Open, were today dismissed by the Court of Justice in London.
Campaign group Keep Abergavenny Livestock Market Open took its fight to the High Court in Cardiff in October, challenging the Welsh Minister Carl Sargeant’s decision to repeal ancient acts that mean Monmouthshire council is obliged to hold a livestock market in the town.
A second review challenged Monmouthshire council’s planning process after it granted planning permission to demolish the Livestock Market to make way for an £11million Morrisions supermarket and library.
