A NEWPORT woman has been left devastated after another dog killed her puppy.

Nicola Godden, 29, of Libeneth Road, Somerton said her less than 12-week-old puppy Jake, who was a Jack Russell crossed with a Pug, was killed on Tuesday (November 27) by a another dog.

Miss Godden who had Jake for about four weeks said the dog had jumped over her garden fence and then jumped back over with her puppy in its mouth before dragging him up the street.

She said: "You wouldn't think anything like that could happen.

"I was in the living room with my 19-month-old daughter Niamh and didn't hear anything.

"But my neighbour saw the dog with my dog in its mouth and came and told me. I have never seen the dog.

"It's just lucky my daughter wasn't in the kitchen as the back door wasn't locked.

"I spoke to the police on Tuesday but I haven't heard anything from them since.

"They won't do anything as it was dog on dog but my puppy didn't stand a chance.

"He was probably excited and thought he had someone to play with.

"I wouldn't expect to find another dog in my garden, my dog couldn't get out so you wouldn't think another one could get in.

"We lost our last dog about six weeks ago when it got run over outside my house.

"I will never ever have another dog. If I do it will be a massive guard dog."

Gwent Police were unavailable for comment.
