AN ABERGAVENNY resident has voiced his concerns over the plan to bring a Morrisons supermarket to the town.

The scheme to redevelop the livestock market will see an £11 million Morrisons supermarket, together with a newlibrary open on the site, and the current market relocated to Bryngwyn, near Raglan.

In a letter to the town council, Richard O’Connor, of Chestnut Drive, claims that opening another supermarket in Abergavenny is ‘over the top’ and fears it will take business from local traders. Mr O’Connor said: “In this case some will close, being detrimental for the Abergavenny town centre landscape, and its varied shopping experiences.”

The letter from Mr O’Connor is due to be discussed at a meeting of the town council in the council chambers on Wednesday.
